It was amazing. It's hard to describe the sensation of witnessing brand new earth flowing into the ocean, so I won't even try. The bottom line is that it's an incredible experience. You should try it some time.

I agree - the lava is fascinating and watching the flow into the ocean is truly humbling. We so often take for granted that the land we live on - to see new land being created that has never existed before makes you realize that all the lands you have tread upon are decaying and crumbling by comparison - and how insignificant the human race really is in the face of Nature.
